02.15.2006 MiCOM Labs Adds Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) Testing and Certification Capability MiCOM Labs has added the capability to test wireless products using dynamic freqency selection (DFS) to its extensive list of accredited wireless services. Growing use of the 802.11 wireless (Wi-Fi) technology has intensified the need for DFS, which is a technology that enables unlicensed devices to share spectrum with existing radar systems. DFS is currently used in the 5.25 to 5.35 GHz and 5.47 to 5.725 GHz frequency bands. MiCOM Labs has completed DFS testing for one client to the latest European standard, and anticipates that requirements for DFS testing will grow as standards are adopted in the U.S. and other regions of the world.
