MiCOM Labs is approved for wireless product testing for Japanese market

MiCOM Labs, Inc., announced today that companies who want to sell wireless products in Japan can now have the required certification testing conducted in the MiCOM Labs facilities in Pleasanton, California. Testing for the Japanese market adds to MiCOM Labs' existing approvals coverage supported by its accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS), giving the company a uniquely extensive, fully global coverage.

"Our wireless clients can now test products in our Pleasanton office for certification all over the world," said Gordon Hurst, MiCOM Labs President and CEO. "MiCOM Labs is accredited to test to a range of standards governing wireless products used in communications, networking, security, medical, telecommunications, and comparable applications. Because our test data and reports are accepted on every continent, our clients benefit from the cost savings of a minimized testing program."

The ability for U.S. companies to test locally for the Japanese market is a significant change from the need to ship products to Japan for testing by the Telecom Engineering Center (TELEC), the certification authority in Japan. Being able to conduct testing locally saves U.S. companies both time and money, as they avoid shipping costs and customs processes. Company personnel also can more easily monitor testing and troubleshoot problems that could occur. Only a small number of countries (such as Taiwan, Brazil and China) continue to require in-country testing.

MiCOM Labs' status as an appointed laboratory for the TUV Rheinland organization has enabled the testing for the Japanese market. Test data from MiCOM Labs will be provided to TUV Japan for completion of the certification process.
